Having worked with Bob and Barn on two features, I can tell you this: They always make me cry… But in a great way. Every film I do, I always forget how much a score adds to a film, and when I think I’ve got the edit just right, their work reminds me that I was only 75% of the way there. Their music lifts every scene beyond my hopes and dreams – and it’s pretty much always on their first pass at a cue. That’s when I cry. I’m so delighted that the film just improved with their collaboration, I can’t help myself. As a team, they work brilliantly – offering ideas, but never telling you what to do, and, as much as I hate to inflate their egos any further, they’re such bloody lovely people, it’s a joy to work with them. I’m just jealous about anyone that gets to work with them, because it means they’re not working with me.
