We're Polyphonic Mad

| We landed the commission to produce oodles of ringtones for Manchester based iFone in conjunction with Sony Ericsson to promote the launch of V-Rally on all phones. In order to produce ringtones which sounded authentic on each phone we had Sony Ericsson send us every phone available that they’d like to sell the ringtones on and we spent time learning the constraints on each phone.
It turned out that they all had virtually identical sound chips, alas none of which were capable of reproducing the kind of rock tracks that the producers requested. |

We went as far as we could and with the recently released P900, discovered that it had the ability to playback mp3’s as ringtones so we produced some authentic rock tracks for that phone and polyphonic midi files for the others. This whet our appetite for all things ringtone as you will see from our website!!
Bob & Barn were invited to visit Reading based ‘Tao’, supplier of pseudo middleware OS ‘Intent’ for all things mobile. We’ve been having discussions regarding pushing the boundaries of mobile audio which, in its current state, needs some work! It was a very successful visit, the fruits of which will become clear in the news section of this website over the next 12 months.
It was a strange month for Barn as he met ‘the guy who prompted him to write music for games in the first place’, the Commodore 64 composer Rob Hubbard at the ‘Back In Time’ event in Brighton. It’s not often that you meet the person who inspired your entire career and as such Barn went uncharacteristically girly and quiet in his presence. That soon changed with the addition of alcohol. |
